Meet our founder Margery Good
Margery Good has had a love for dogs from an early age. As a child, she would ask to walk or brush her neighbors’ dogs. She later began working for Miss Edna Dobbins, who taught Margery proper grooming practices.

While in college studying Biology, Margery purchased her first Sealyham, which was the last Surgenpride bred. Margery later showed her to Winners Bitch at the National Specialty. She also produced Ch. Goodspice Tarragon, who won Best in Show in 1979 at Montgomery County Kennel Club (the largest terrier show in the world) with Margery as a breeder, owner, and handler.

In business for over 35 years
Margery opened Goodspice Kennels in 1980 and began professional handling and showing for all dog breeds. Some of the winning dogs she has been associated with over the years include Ch. Goodspice Tarragon, Ch. Hobbit Hills Up’n Adam (the #1 terrier in 1981). Ch. Kifel Point of Vue (Lakeland), and Ch. Torset Touch of Class (#1 terrier in 1991, who was used as the standard in the AKC breed video).

The success of Charmin
Margery reached the pinnacle of her career with Ch. Efbe’s Hidalgo at Goodspice, better known as “Charmin.” Charmin was bred by Margery’s dear friend France Bergeron. He began his show career at six months of age by winning two 5-point majors. Charmin is the top-winning Sealyham of all time and has won more top awards than any dog in the world. This includes 95 Bests in Show, including Crufts, The World Dog Show, AKC/Eukanuba Invitational, and Montgomery County Kennel Club. Charmin has also won Group 1 and 2 at Westminster, the #1 Terrier for two years and the #4 and 5 All-Breeds in 2007 and 2008. Additionally, Margery was nominated as the 2010 AKC Terrier Group Breeder of the Year.

Continuing to work with terriers
Margery is currently campaigning Mystic Grand Champion Silver Ch. Elite’s Mystical Spitfire, Lakeland Terrier. She continues to work with a full string of terriers primarily at approximately 150 shows during the year. She strives to do her best to help the pets and people around her.
